American Hospital partners with Etisalat Digital to launch telehealth service in UAE
Telehealth, the use of digital technologies to provide healthcare services from a remote location, is gaining traction in the UAE as the Emirate aims to become a medical and tourist hub.
Dubai Health Authority has adopted seven main components to support telehealth services to implement the goals of Article Five of the Fifty-Year Charter.
Article Five, A Doctor for every citizen, of the Fifty-Year Charter, was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in a bid to bring doctors closer to individuals, enhance awareness and utilise top medical minds globally to serve the health of citizens.
Dubai Healthcare City launched the telehealth platform in the free zone last year and now, American Hospital has partnered with Etisalat Digital to launch telehealth service in the private sector.
The service will enable UAE residents to request and avail remote medical consultations with the doctors of American Hospital by utilising the Etisalat communication platform service for advanced voice, video conferencing, and collaboration technologies via a mobile app or web browser.
By delivering these technologies in scalable, flexible, and operational, commercial models, Etisalat Digital is addressing some of the primary barriers to adoption of new technologies.
